Fast Video Brighton x Hove Albion

Brighton & Hove Albion 3 – 2 Manchester United – Brighton stunned a lacklustre Manchester United with three first-half goals to secure a famous victory at the Amex Stadium.

The Seagulls beat United in May to retain their Premier League status, but few expected a repeat on Sunday.

However, Brighton capitalised on a poor start from United to take the lead on 25 minutes, when Glenn Murray flicked home Solly Marchs low cross.

And they doubled their lead just two minutes later, Shane Duffy taking advantage of the visitors inability to clear by stroking home his first Premier League goal.

Romelu Lukaku halved the deficit 11 minutes before the break, rising unmarked to nod in Luke Shaws ball.

But Eric Baillys rash challenge on Pascal Gross inside the area presented Brighton with the chance to restore their two-goal advantage, which Gross took.

United improved marginally after the break but never really looked like threatening a fightback, though Paul Pogba netted an injury-time penalty after Duffy brought down Marouane Fellaini.

It was a day to forget for United fans, especially after their neighbours City swept aside Huddersfield 6-1.

Brighton & Hove Albion 3 – 2 Manchester United | English Premier League – Match Highlights

25′ 1 – 0 Glenn Murray with the opener! Deserved. Brighton have shown no fear and go ahead against Manchester United. It is a well-worked team move, which carves open the opposition. Juan Mata fails to cut out a pass and Gaetan Bong plays the ball to the dangerous Solly March. He puts a lovely, low cross inside the area, Victor Lindelof loses Glenn Murray, who flicks a delightful, first-time finish into the net from six yards out.
27′ 2 – 0 Shane Duffy double Brightons lead! Jose Mourinho looks shell-shocked. Eric Bailly concedes a needless corner and United fails to clear the resulting set-piece. Anthony Knockaert lays the ball on in the area for defender Shane Duffy, who strokes in his first Premier League goal. Two goals in two minutes for Brighton and the Amex Stadium is rocking.

33′ 2 – 1 Romelu Lukaku pulls back one! Back in it. Raining goals at the Amex Stadium. United get a corner which Brighton do not clear. Luke Shaw shows excellent commitment and bravery to win a loose ball ahead of two home defenders and it loops back into the area. The ball then drops nicely for Romelu Lukaku to head home free from inside the six yard box.

44′ 3 – 1 [Penalty Goal] Pascal Groß scores! Brighton are in dreamland. Eric Baillys poor challenge proves so costly for Manchester United. Pascal Gross picks himself up and although it is an unconvincing penalty, which hits David de Geas hip, it ends up in the roof of the net.

90+5′ 3 – 2 [Penalty Goal] Paul Pogba pulls back another goal. Stuttering run-up from Paul Pogba but no mistake with the penalty, down the middle and into the roof of the net. Is there time left for an equaliser??
